CMYK colors might have shifted during the creation of these web RGB samples.
Photographing pottery is difficult because shiny glazes create noticeable, bright white hotspots, even with natural lighting.
I do a lot of image-editing for Jill Hinckley, founder of Hinckley Pottery and a nationally-known potter. This series of examples is from her latest brochure, which I also designed and art-directed. >>View the completed brochure
Cover photo :
Removed the blue color-cast that's inherent in most digital photographs.
Masked the teapot and removed the original photograph's background.
Removed bright-white hotspots on right side of the teapot.
Sharpened the crackled texture in the pot's glazing.
Produced versions for both CMYK printing and RGB website.

Portrait:
Removed the blue color-cast that's inherent in most digital photographs.
Removed person on the right and extended the foliage background.
Gently retouched Jill's facial features, color-corrected skin tones, and removed pronounced shadows under Jill's eyes due to strong sunlight.
Deepened the blue of Jill's shirt, which was over-exposed by strong sunlight in some sections.
Removed the small white flowers in the foliage behind Jill's head.
Cropped photo.
